My score says “Calibrating”

Calmline needs at least three days with usable Heart Rate Variability readings before it will show a number. It deliberately will not guess from less. Wear your watch — including overnight, if you are comfortable doing so — and the score will appear.

My score updates only a few times a day

This is the most common issue, and it is not the app. Apple Watch records HRV on its own schedule — often only every few hours. Calmline can only score what watchOS has recorded.

To give it more to work with:

  • Wear the watch consistently, including while you sleep
  • Keep Background Measurements enabled in the Watch app
  • Regular Breathe or Mindfulness sessions each produce an HRV reading

Why did it alert me earlier than my threshold?

After a short night, low REM sleep or disturbed breathing, Calmline lowers that day’s alert threshold — you have less headroom, so it speaks up sooner. It never raises the threshold above what you set. When this happens, the reason is shown on the watch face card and in Settings → Recovery.

The Smart Stack card never appears at the top

The card promotes itself only when your score crosses your threshold. Below that it stays in its normal position by design. Note that watchOS treats widget relevance as a strong hint rather than a guarantee, and it also weighs your own usage patterns.

Breathing without looking at the watch

Add Breathe to Control Center, or assign it to the Action button on Apple Watch Ultra. One press starts a haptic-guided session with the screen dimmed, so you can run it discreetly.

Getting my data out

Settings → Export as CSV or JSON on iPhone. The export includes timestamps, scores, bands and the scoring formula, so it is readable without Calmline.

Deleting my data

Settings → Clear Stress History removes Calmline’s local log. Deleting the app removes everything it stored. Neither affects data in Apple Health, which you control in Health → Sharing → Apps.

Cancelling a subscription

On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Calmline. There is also a direct link in the app under Calmline Plus. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
